YarnKitchen's Autumn Memories

Please meet Stella from The Yarn Kitchen and her wonderful autumn creations.

What is it about autumn, that you like most?
One of the best thing in Autumn is the cooler weather, I find myself smiling and feeling uplifted as soon as the cold breezes start to come in September or October. There are few things I enjoy as much as a long walk when the weather is cool and crisp, but there are lots of other things I like about fall, too. I love the changing colours on the trees and the beginning of a new season with its projects and promises to be fulfilled.

What is your favourite kind of rain?
Well I’m more a sunny lover but I like rain especially that kind of misty rain that often occur here in the North of Italy during fall, not heavy rain, something  really calming and soothing, so nice for mother earth end people.

What is your favourite song about rain?
My fav is "Singing in the Rain", it’s so happy and make me feel in a sort of vintage mood, absolutely gorgeous, I sing it loudly when I’m outside with bike under the rain (well if it is not too heavy.. otherwise is better not to tell what I sing ).

Could you share a recipe of one of your favourite autumn dishes?
I’m a proud cooker and eater and autumn is really a wonderful season on the table, we have some wonderful fruit and radishes that are now fully ripe.

My last favourite dish is a red beetroot appetizer, I tasted it in Paris and make it a lot of time now.

Millefeuille de betterave

4 people
2 medium red beetroot cooked and peeled
Basilic pesto
Parmigiano 16 month old thinly sliced
Balsamic vinegar
Lemon zest
You have to thinly slice the beetroot and alternate a slice of beetroot, a dazzle of pesto and a slice of parmigiano. At the end put a little more pesto, lemon zest and some drops of balsamic vinegar. Serve it cold with a glass of white wine.

What is you favourite DIY autumn project?
I like to collect things from the wood, acorn caps, pine cone, leaves and then I prepare little gift to use during holiday season in my shop. I always put a little gift from the earth.
